She gave the girl a weird look. “Sorry, i’m not really in the mood for story telling.”
“Oh, uh … Okay, sorry. I was just trying to break the ice. Since we will get almost 30 hours here in this car I just thought a conversation would be more fun than spending the whole trip in silence. So, I think It was a bad idea. Sorry again.” She begins to play with her hair awkwardly in silent.
Connie let put a sigh and kept her eyes on the road. “His name was Jim, we were partners and childhood friends. I was his sidekick and he was the detective, we understood each other to the fullest. He helped me get my detective badge, and soon enough we were the highest ranked detectives in New York City. It was the best thing that ever happened to me.” Connie became silent again and didn’t dare look at the girl.
Kell smiled at Connie. “It’s a beautiful story. I’ll not ask how it ends, since knowing the whole story on the same day loses all the fun. For the first chapter it’s enough.”
Connie shot her a look. “The first chapter?! What is my life some sort of a game to you?!”
“Oh, No! I’m sorry, I was just… AH! Me and my stupids jokes! I always screw the conversation.” She looked down completely embarrassed “It’s just I don’t seen you smile since I met you! I was just trying to cheer you up a bit. It seems we both didn’t had some good days… I promise to keep my mouth shut the rest of the trip.” She pulls the glue of the shirt to cover her mouth and makes a thumbs-up.
“Oh, it was a joke?” very interesting. “So. Do you need to pee? There’s a gas station coming up.”
Without taking the shirt of her mouth. “I’m starving! Do you want something too? I’ll buy some snacks.”
She looked at her. “See if they got any pie… bring me some pie?”
